Spread over an area of 100 acres, Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple is a comparatively newly constructed temple, which gained immense popularity among pilgrims immediately after it was inaugurated in 2007. The construction of this divine temple was led by Sri Sakthi Amma, who is said to have designed the temple through her the concept she received through her divine vision. Mahalakshmi Golden Temple Sripuram, is dedicated to the Goddess Lakshmi. Along with this, the very presence of Guru, Sri Sakthi Amma, who is worshiped by the devotees as their goddess also draws huge number of pilgrims to this temple. It is estimated that on some occasions, the number of devotes at the temples even reaches to 1 lakh.
Golden Temple Vellore presents a captivating scenic beauty along with architectural excellence. Located in 100 acres of landscapes, it is at the centre of star-shaped path. The temple has been constructed keeping dimensions of energy in mind. For instance, the physical dimensions of Golden temple are made in such a way that it accumulates large energy by absorbing it from the nature itself. The path to the temple has been created in the shape of a star, which denotes the divine Sri Chakra, which is believed to generate a flow of energy comprising 12 positive verticals. This symbolises the path of purity and spirituality.
Lakshmi Devi Temple is adorned with varied statues which have been crafted by special gold decorators. Temple’s exterior has also been covered with sheets of pure gold. It is also said that these layers of gold has been prepared manually; while the temple is covered with about nine to almost twelve gold layers. The overall construction of this grand temple is said to be more than 300 crore. Its sculptures, intricately decorated pillars and crafted roofs further add to its overall grandeur.
Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple is known for many aspects. Its’ Sahasra Deepam (1008 lamps) a 18 feet bronze structure with 9 layer, which has been positioned on a Tortoise pedestal is one of its most attractive and pious features. To the eastern side of the star-path, there is deepa mandapam, which is decorated with enormous walls, each with statues of Goddess Sri Saraswathi, Sri Maha-lakshmi and Sri Durga.
Close to the fort, the Golden temple is located at a distance of 8 km from the Vellore old bus stand in Thirumalaikodi village. Although Lakshmi Devi Temple and Tirupati Balaji Temple distance is about 100 km, there are many buses from Tirupati to Golden temple of Vellore and vice-versa, making it easier for the devotees to visit both the prominent shrines during their Tirupati tour. One can also travel from Tirupati to Vellore in trains.
Vellore Golden Temple visiting hours are from 5.45 AM to 8 PM. Every day at the Golden Temple, various puja and seva are performed, which devotes can also take part in.
